Grossglockner High Alpine Road

The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is located at the heart of High Tauern National Park. It's the highest surfaced mountain pass road in Austria with a total of 48 km and 36 turns and peaks at just above 2,500 m. A day ticket is 36€ for a car and it's worth every cent. There are plenty of places to stop and admire the views onto several 3,000 m peaks, but the largest of them all is the Grossglockner with 3,798 m. We've arrived there at around 17 o'clock and sayed all night.

Hiking Taubensee between Germany & Austria

Taubensee is a small lake right at the border between Germany (Chiemgau Alps) and Austria (Kitzbühel Alps). It is one of the highest lakes in Germany with 1.138 meters above sea level.

You can hike there from both countries. We started our 2 hour hike on a cloudy rainy day in Kössen which is on the Austrian side and here are some pictures from the hike...
